COMPASSIONATE ACTION A course for HR Professionals and Line Managers

Date(s): 01 Oct 08 to 01 Oct 09

COMPASSIONATE ACTION is a one-day programme that enables HR Professionals and Line Managers to stay resourceful and maintain appropriate compassion whilst they carry out difficult duties including making people redundant.

WHY ATTEND COMPASSIONATE ACTION?
For anyone managing or supporting individuals, empathy and compassion are vital qualities. Indeed, it is often a person’s natural capacity for such attributes that brought them to their profession in the first place. In these difficult financial times, breaking bad news has become an unavoidable experience of the role and there can be times when the reaction of the recipient is no less than heart rending.

COMPASSIONATE ACTION is about being able to communicate difficult news in a way that enables the recipient to process the information whilst ensuring the deliverer remains resilient and able to handle any resulting personal distress.

HOW DOES COMPASSIONATE ACTION DO THAT?
With a mix of group and personal exercises, the course teaches delegates how to:

  • choose the right time;
  • calibrate and work sensitively with the recipient’s information processing style;
  • communicate bad news directly and compassionately;
  • protect themselves from powerful negative emotions in others;
  • maintain a balanced, resourceful state.
