When was the last time your business had a HR health check? Are you aware of the basic statutory employee documentation, policies and procedures you should have in place? Want to minimise risk and avoid potential employment tribunal costs?

There are some obligations which start from the moment you begin advertising a role and prior to employment. It is better to be prepared than to find out what you don’t have, when it’s too late.

Here are some questions to ask yourself to see if your business could use a Ward Williams HR health check:

  • Do you issue contracts of employment to all employees within 8 weeks of their start date?
  • Do you have a recruitment process that’s consistent, fair, compliant with GDPR and ensures you always employ the best people?
  • Do you regularly check that your contracts of employment and staff handbook reflect current legislation?
  • Are all your policies are up to date, comprehensive and effective?
  • Do you effectively manage poor performance and absence?
  • Do you have a robust and effective appraisal system that managers and staff feel comfortable using?
  • Do your managers regularly give employees feedback on their performance?
  • Are your managers skilled in training and developing their staff to improve performance?
  • Is your disciplinary and grievance process transparent and effective?

If you said ‘no’ to more than one of these questions. Why not get in touch and Ward Williams HR and see how we can support your business. We have a wide range of support packages on offer, and can tailor our offering to suit your specific business needs.
