We expect a lot from our workforce, and it is therefore paramount that you have the correct reward system in place. Whilst always welcome, an increase in remuneration isn’t the only way to acknowledge hard work and show appreciation.

If you get the right rewards in place, it could go a long way in supporting your other strategies and company goals.

Think about what you are rewarding? Did someone/ a team put in additional hours to hit a deadline or go above and beyond to ensure the smooth operation of the business during a period of increased staff absences when you were short staffed? An extra day off, a team lunch or an early finish on a Friday are only going to make someone feel appreciated for going the extra mile.

We all hope to recruit staff who share the company vision and take pride in their work and have a strong work ethic, and of course we pay a salary for an individual to meet our expectations, but don’t take it for granted.

It is important to therefore not only recognise a particular achievement or hard work, but to also show appreciation and gratitude.

Having recently introduced a suggestions box in our own workplace, we are practicing what we preach and listening to our people. If you want to do the same, but need help as to where to start, we would be happy to help.
